In collaboration with Future Unit, I was brought on to help shape an exploration into the next evolution of Tangible Robotics’ current robotic form. Early discussions focused on understanding the broader landscape of robot design and establishing a clear point of view around what this platform should and should not be. Rather than pursuing a human-styled or anthropomorphic robot, the intent was to reinforce a platform-driven approach that prioritizes capability, adaptability and learning through real-world interaction. Within that framework, refining proportions became a foundational step, paired with a deeper effort to understand the team’s technical constraints, functional needs and the design sensibilities they most strongly resonated with.
From there, the design branched outward to address presence, character and material expression without compromising the integrity of the existing framework. The goal was to create a robot that felt visually resolved and emotionally legible while remaining grounded in Tangible Robotics’ core philosophy of embodied intelligence and real-world interaction. By aligning aesthetics with function and values, the result is a form that feels both purposeful and human-aware, an evolution that reflects not just improved proportions, but a shared understanding of what this robot should become.
